Mary Eileen McDonnell born 28 April 1952, is a famous American stage acting, film and television actress. McDonnell was awarded the Academy Award nomination for her part in Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and she is also well-known for her portrayal of President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica, the President's wife on Independence Day and for her starring part in Donnie Darko as the title persona's mother.
